President Akufo-Addo has directed the Office of the Special Prosecutor to conduct an inquiry into allegations that Airbus, Europe’s largest aircraft manufacturers, paid bribes to government officials under the erstwhile Mills-Mahama administration.
A statement signed by the Director of Communications, at the Presidency Eugene Arhin, said the President has asked the Office to collaborate with its UK’s counterpart to conduct a prompt inquiry to determine the complicity or otherwise of any past or present government official.
The statement said the necessary legal action will be taken against any official as required by the laws of Ghana if found culpable.
The statement comes on the heels of admission by Airbus SE that it paid bribes and commissions to Ghanaian officials in the purchase of three military Aircraft under the Presidency of the late John Evans Atta-Mills.
