The Judge hearing the case of alleged Chinese illegal miner Aisha Huang has warned her to comport herself following her consistent weeping in Court.

Aisha Huang again burst out crying after answering a question posed to her by Director of Public Prosecution, Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa during cross examination.

Justice Lydia Osei Marfo who appeared not happy said her crying is deliberate to interrupt proceedings. She therefore cautioned Aisha Huang not to cry in court again.

At the previous hearing, the trial was disrupted for some few minutes after the accused broke down in tears claiming the allegations against her are false.

Director of Public Prosecution Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa questioned Aisha Huang why she returned into the country after she was repatriated and knew she needed approval from the Comptroller General of the Ghana Immigration Service to re-enter.

Aisha Huang responded that she was not told when she could return so after staying in China for sometime, she decided to come back to the country.

The prosecutor put it to her that she returned to Ghana to continue with her illegal activities. It was at this point she burst into tears after responding in the negative.

Mrs Atakora Obuobisa further questioned why she had her COVID 19 vaccination and the National ID cards issued in Tamale in the Northern Region when she was resident at Ahodwo in the Ashanti region. She further suggested that the accused did so to avoid detection.

Aisha Huang explained that she travelled to Tamale in search of her debtors who were unwilling to settle her and also refusing to respond to her calls. She said she took the opportunity to get those cards done for her because there was not much pressure at Tamale unlike Kumasi.

The prosecution also questioned Aisha Huang on why she applied as a fresh applicant with a different identity on the expiration of her National ID.

She narrated that her passport details which were used for the previous national ID were nullified and she acquired another one with different details.

It was the new passport she was using to acquire the second National ID but her biometrics showed that her details were already captured in the National Identification Authority’s system but with different names, date of birth and place of birth.

Aisha Huang said she was informed by the NIA officer to use legal means to effect her new name. She however explained that she did not know the procedure to follow.

Aisha Huang is facing trial for allegedly engaging in illegal mining activities in the country. The trial continues tomorrow July 25, 2023.
