President Akufo-Addo reflected on his tenure with a mix of gratitude and optimism. Speaking to a gathering of dignitaries and citizens, he expressed deep thanks for the opportunity to serve two terms, a distinction he shares with past leaders Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, and John Dramani Mahama.

The President acknowledged the significant challenges during his tenure, particularly the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the hardships, he reassured citizens that Ghana is on the path to recovery, with economic growth expected to return to pre-pandemic levels. “It has been a very difficult time, and I believe most of us can see that we are now turning the corner,” he said.

As he prepares to step down on January 7, his final major task is to oversee the December elections. He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that the elections are peaceful and fair, maintaining Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa. “The people of Ghana deserve no less than to be given the best atmosphere in which to choose freely their next president and parliament,” he remarked.

In closing, he thanked everyone for their support and expressed hope that his successor would receive the same. “God bless all of you and our homeland Ghana,” he concluded, marking a period of transition and hopeful anticipation for the nation’s future.
