President Akufo-Addo has cut sod for work to begin on the dualization of the 22km Adenta Dodowa road project.
The project scope includes provision of walkways, street lights and adequate drainage system. Speaking at Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region, the President noted that steps are being taken to resume work on projects that were suspended due to the debt restructuring exercise.
These include the construction of the Tema Aflao Road, which provides four interchanges at Kpone, Savannah, Dawenya, and Ningo Junctions. He urged the contractor to ensure the necessary traffic management measures to minimize inconveniences to commuters and pedestrians during the construction period.
The Adenta-Dodowa road was originally reconstructed in 1998 by a Ghanaian company, Kassab Civil Engineering Company Limited. The dualization of the Adenta-Dodowa road is part of the government’s comprehensive strategy to enhance the main front roads of the country. This initiative includes the dualization of other key routes, the Accra-Kumasi Highway, Accra-Cape Coast Road, Tema-Aflao Road, and Tema-Akosombo Road.
These projects will reduce travel times, lowering vehicle operating costs, and significantly improving road safety. President Akufo-Addo touched on some major road projects undertaken by his government since 2017.
The Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso Boakye, asked the contractor to complete the project within the stipulated time.
The NPP Parliament Candidate for Adentan, Akosua Manu, expressed gratitude to the government for honouring its promise of constructing the road.
