President Akufo-Addo has reiterated his commitment to supervise an incident-free election on December 7, 2024.

He said Ghana is a beacon of democracy and cannot afford to lose this credential under his watch.

The President made these remarks at the 48th Gonjaland Youth Association meeting held at Damongo, the Savannah Regional Capital. The celebrations also marked the first anniversary of the king of Gonja, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale.

President Akufo Addo said peace is critical, and it’s an important ingredient in moving the country’s development agenda forward. He therefore urged the youth to embrace peace to realise this agenda. The President mentioned the creation of the new Savannah Region as a deliberate policy by his government to enhance good governance and development in the Gonja Traditional Area.

The Yagbonwura, on his part, commended the government for the construction of an office complex for the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council and many other infrastructure projects dotted in the region.

The President of the Gonjaland Youth Association, Amin Osmanu, outlined some of the development projects undertaken by the association, such as the drilling of 20 boreholes in the traditional area.

He also mentioned the setting up of a committee to review the 1930 constitution of the Gonja Traditional Area.
