The statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital roundabout in Sekondi, has been completely destroyed.

This is the second time the monument has been vandalised.

The first incident happened on December 16, 2024, when unknown individuals damaged the statue’s leg.

Although the statue was repaired, no arrests were made, and the reasons for the act remain unclear.

The latest attack occurred just days after Akufo-Addo ended his tenure as president. This time, the statue was fully toppled.

The monument was originally erected during Akufo-Addo’s presidency to honour his efforts to improve healthcare and infrastructure in the Western Region.

Placed near the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, it symbolised the government’s commitment to expanding medical care in underserved communities.

Authorities are yet to identify those responsible for the repeated acts of vandalism.
