The Anlo Traditional Area has called on Parliament to take swift action against the Member of Parliament who referred to Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as a “daughter of a murderer” during a debate on 4 February 2025.
A delegation led by former MP Hon. Dan Kwashie Abodakpi petitioned Speaker Alban Bagbin, urging him to identify and sanction the MP responsible.

The remark, made during discussions on the legacy of J.B. Danquah, has been widely condemned as defamatory and disrespectful.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Abodakpi emphasised the late President Jerry John Rawlings’ role in Ghana’s democracy and described the comment as an affront to his legacy and the Anlo people.
Speaker Bagbin, through Clerk Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, assured the delegation that an investigation was underway to uncover the MP behind the remark. He condemned the statement as dishonourable and urged the offender to come forward voluntarily, hinting at the possibility of a plea bargain.

Majority Leader Hon. Mahama Ayariga and Minority Chief Whip Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh have both expressed support for disciplinary measures.
Under parliamentary rules, MPs found guilty of defamation could face suspension or expulsion.
The incident has sparked outrage among various groups, including the Anlo Dukor Council and the Rawlings Foundation, who insist on accountability to uphold Parliament’s integrity.
