The member of parliament for Nsawam Adoagyire, Frank Annoh Dompreh has called on the convener of Fix the Country, Oliver Barker Vormawor to be courageous enough to defend himself regarding a social media post leveling a bribery allegation against the Appointments Committee on January 29, 2025 on taking money from ministerial nominees before approving them.
“Be bold as you were when you were putting up the statement, You should be bold to defend your statement today”
The post which surfaced on social media on 24th January, 2024 wrote: “So all the monies the ministerial appointees are being asked to pay to the Appointments Committee just to get approved, are those ones not affected by ORAL? Strange Republic.” has caused chaos and was among issues that interrupted vetting on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
The member of parliament also argued that he finds it strange that Barker Vormawor has taken a twist to render an apology, emphasizing that his apology is coming on the back of the invitation to him to come and respond to his claims.
“I find it strange that all of sudden you want to make an apology”
The minority chief whip indicated that the activist would not have apologized if he was not invited by the parliamentary appointment committee.
“I preach it to you that if we had not invited you, you would not you will not have come out to apologize”
He also accused Vormawor of holding no concrete evidence before leveling such allegations against the committee thinking nobody will do anything to him.
Barker Vormawor’s appearance before the Parliamentary Appointments Committee was part of the committee’s effort to clarify and reinstate its integrity against bribery allegations leveled against it.
