5-Member Committee in place to manage Appiatse Support Fund

A five-Member Committee has been inaugurated in Accra to supervise and coordinate resources for the reconstruction of Appiatse, a Community near Bogoso in the Western Region which was razed in a recent explosion.

Chaired by Founder of the Salt and Light Ministry, Dr. Joyce Aryee, the Committee will primarily manage “the Appiatse Support Fund” and mobilize funds from the Public to support victims of the disaster.

Inaugurating the Committee, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor appealed to all Ghanaians to donate generously to the fund.

Disaster struck the Community of Appiatse in the Western Region last Thursday during an explosion. The disaster led to the death of about thirteen people with dozens injured. Under the directive of President Akufo Addo, the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources was tasked to constitute the “Appiatse Support Fund” to ensure judicious use of the funds. The Ministry constituted a 5-Member Committee to ensure transparency.

Members include, Omanhene of Wassa Amenfi Traditional Area, Tetetrete Akuamoah Sakyi, Certified Accountant and Manager of Cal Bank Philip Owuredu, Senior Lecturer University of Ghana, Dr. Antoinette Tsibu Darko, and Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Mines Suleman Konney. Chairperson of the Committee, Dr Joyce Aryee, was grateful for the confidence reposed in them. She also called on well-meaning Ghanaians to donate generously to ensure targets for the setting up of the Appiatse Support Fund is achieved.

Prayers were offered for bereaved families and the injured of the disaster.
