The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled Nana Amofa Twumasi II, the chief of Mpasaaso No. 2, after 41 years on the throne, citing multiple allegations, including involvement in illegal mining (galamsey), questionable royal lineage, and failure to uphold accountability.

He was destooled on Monday, March 10, 2025, alongside four of his stool elders.

The announcement was made in a social media post by Opemsuo Radio after the chief appeared before the Asanteman Kumasi Traditional Council.

According to the post, Nana Amofa Twumasi II was found to have engaged in activities that undermined both traditional authority and the well-being of the Mpasaaso community.

One of the key accusations leading to his removal was his alleged complicity in illegal mining operations, which have caused environmental destruction in the community. The traditional council also raised concerns over his royal legitimacy and accused him of neglecting his responsibilities to the community and traditional leaders.
