Association calls on stakeholders to champion development in Bimoba areas

The leadership of the Bimoba Youth Association (BIYA), in the Upper East and the Northern Regions have called on stakeholders including traditional rulers and political leaders to champion an enabling environment for sustainable development in Bimoba areas.

They say peace is the ultimate tool for national development and there is the need for all to give it a chance as communities and investors could work best under peaceful conditions for sustainable development.

The Association made the call at its annual general meeting held in Bolgatanga. It called for peace in the North following the unrest in some parts of the Bimoba belt as a result of land issues and chieftaincy disputes.

The Bimoba Youth Association was established in 1996 to champion the cause of development and welfare of Bimobas across the country. It was observed that the struggle for power and land were the major threats to peace as it separated the people.

At the youth meeting, speaker after speaker called on all to eschew such disputes as it will not bring any worthy cause for development. In an interview, the former Chairman of the Bimoba Youth Association, Dr. George Nangpaak Duut, who is also a member of the BIYA council of elders expressed worry about the deplorable road network in the Bimoba catchment areas.

He said there are a lot of tourist sites in the area which are not explored due to the bad nature of roads in the area. generation.

A Public Health Officer at the Ghana Health Services, Emmanuel Kolan, called on the people in the area to sleep in ventilated rooms to avoid the outbreak of meningitis.

The Bimoba Youth Association commended government for its effort at promoting the socio-economic lives of the people and called on it to further identify young potential entrepreneurs and support them financially to grow their businesses and build their capacities.
