Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has dismissed concerns over the recent chaotic scenes during the vetting of ministerial nominees, describing the disruptions as “child’s play” compared to his experiences in Bawku.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the Bawku Central MP acknowledged the tensions that arose but maintained his composure throughout. “I have an attitude towards chaos,” he remarked, downplaying the disorder.

Hon. Ayariga noted that tensions escalated when the Majority planned to vet four nominees while the Minority insisted on only three. A breakdown in communication led to confusion, with the number of nominees eventually increasing to eight.

He said he attempted to mediate, proposing that the Minority agree to vet Mr. Akandoh, who had already taken the oath, while deferring Mr. Ablakwa’s vetting. However, tensions escalated into shouting matches and physical disruptions, making resolution impossible.

Recognising the deadlock, Hon. Ayariga ultimately decided to end the vetting session.

“I don’t think my side was that happy with the decision to end the proceedings there,” he admitted.
