Basic schools in Goaso, located in the Ahafo Region, will be closed on Thursday, February 27, 2025, to observe the 40th-day remembrance of the late Paramount Chief, Nana Kwasi Bosomprah.
The Nkabomhene, Nana Kwabena Frimpong, announced the directive in an interview with Adom News, stating that the Traditional Council has engaged the Education Directorate to ensure compliance.
Explaining the rationale behind the decision, Nana Frimpong emphasized that the measure is to safeguard children, as large gatherings could create opportunities for criminal activities such as kidnapping.
“The traditional council does not want any unfortunate incidents to be linked to the observance. Therefore, parents must ensure their children remain at home,” he stated.

In addition to schools, shops and other businesses, except for pharmacies and a few restaurants will also be closed for the day.
Nana Frimpong further warned that anyone who fails to comply with the directive will face consequences.
Nana Kwasi Bosomprah passed away after a prolonged illness, with his death officially announced on December 16, 2024, by Otumfuo’s linguist, Kyeame Antwi Boasiako, during an Asanteman Council meeting.
Ascending the Goasomanhene stool in 2008, Nana Bosomprah was a highly respected traditional leader, known for his strong advocacy for development and his outspoken stance on government policies that he believed hindered progress in the Goaso area.
