A Government delegation has toured the Kusug Traditional Area (KTA) and its environs in the wake of the recent clashes between the civilians and the security, which resulted in injuring 3 security personnel and 3 deaths civilian casualties recorded so far in the Boabula Community, the most affected area among the ram-sacking of the Highway Community market Bawku and the Pusiga Chief Palace by the security personnel.
The aim of the delegation’s visit was to strengthen the relationship between the civilians and the security personnel, assess the extent of damage as a result of the clash and the way forward for peaceful coexistence in the area.
GBC’s Emmanuel Akayeti reports that the delegation made up of six Members of Parliament (MPs), from the Kusug Traditional Area was led by the former Zebilla MP, Cletus Avoka; the Bawku Central MP, Mahama Ayeriga; Hajia Laadi Ayammah, MP for Pusiga; Abdulai Abanga, Binduri MP; Lydia Adakudugu, MP for Tempani; and Albert Alalzuga Akuka, MP for Garu Constituency.
They were accompanied by the Officers and men of Mognori Outpost 1 of 11 Mechanised Battalion, the Police, and the Bawku and Missga border checkpoints Immigrations Officers.
At a courtesy call on the Palace of the KTA Zugu Rana Azoka Aburago II, the leader of the team, the former Member of Parliament, Cletus Avoke, announced to the Chief their mission and got his blessing.
Bawku MP assures Kusug residents
For his part, the Bawku Central Member of Parliament, Mahama Ayeriga, assured the good people of Kusug that there is nothing to fight or fear for the law is clear and nobody can contest or interfere with the Kusug skin.
A minute silence was observed at the Zoogo Buabula Traditional Area for the 3 deceased souls Issaku Abdulai, 36, and Ayisha Yahaye, 15, and Awudu Habibi, 13 years old, who were shot dead on the 19 of March 2022. Some houses, foodstuff, motor bikes, animals, and their feeds were set ablaze.
A petition was read by the Assemblyman of the area Paul Musah on behalf of the Chief of Zoogo and the members of the entire Zoogo and Missiga Traditional Area, calling on the government through the delegation to as a matter of urgency, do everything to bring the perpetrators to book and restitution to the affected in the community to for stalled peace.
