The Founder of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, and two of his associate pastors were yesterday (September 26) fined GH¢12,000 by an Accra Circuit Court for flogging two teenagers during a church service on August 17, 2016.
Bishop Obinim, also known as ‘Angel’ Obinim and the associate pastors Kingsley Baah and Solomon Abraham flogged the two teenagers for engaging in sexual intercourse which resulted in pregnancy.
‘Angel’ Obinim was found guilty of physical abuse, contrary to the Domestic Violence Act, 2007 (Act 732) and was fined GH¢4,800. In default, he will serve six months in jail.
Pastors Baah and Abraham, who were found guilty of abetment of crime, were each slapped with a GH¢3,600 fine and will serve three months in the jail if they fail to pay the fine.
The court, presided over by Mrs. Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, further ordered the three convicts to sign bonds to be of good behaviour for 12 months.
Failure to abide by the terms of the bond will see the three preachers of the Gospel spend three months in jail.
