A Trustee of the National Cathedral Project, Rev. Joyce Aryee, has entreated Ghanaians to understand that the National Cathedral Museum is not only going to be a place theoretically to show Africa’s contribution to Christianity but a physical manifestation as well.
Speaking on GTV’s ‘Talking Point’ which discussed ”Funding of the National Cathedral”, She said, ‘’Africans role in Christianity should be made visible through the Cathedral.
Rev. Joyce Aryee, however, noted that the project has been stalled, but that, ‘’should not discourage Christians from contributing’’.
‘’That is why we are saying let’s all give,” she noted.
Construction on the National Cathedral was suspended due to the unavailability of funds.
The National Cathedral is expected to be completed by March 2024.
The inter-denominational Cathedral will house an auditorium with 5,000 seating capacity.
In March 2022, the government released GH¢25 million to the National Cathedral Secretariat as additional seed money for the project.
The $450 million project was envisioned by the government in March 2017 as a physical embodiment of national unity, harmony, and spirituality.
