A project called Equal Voices is expected to be launched in Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire by the French Media Development Agency CFI to combat gender inequalities.
CFI will partner Media Foundation for West Africa, Ghana later this year to launch the programme which is aimed at training journalists on misinformation, protection of the environment and the promotion of gender equality.
Deputy Director of Africa for CFI, Emilie Laot-Yahou explained the importance of the project to GBC News’ Benjamin Willie Graham in Paris, France during a visit to the offices of CFI, where he said the project which has partnership with the Media Foundation for West Africa who will help with the training of journalists.
She noted that the project will have a duration of two years and there will be a call for interest where some journalists will be selected to participate in the project.
“It will be in two folds. she intimated. The first will be working on the internal organisation where focus will be on internal rules of selected media and also cases of sexual harassment especially with the female journalists, she added”.Madam Laot-Yahou said the second fold will be a special training on self-development for women journalists.
