The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) has denied claims that the Conference is getting ready to abandon the FREE SHS policy.
Again, CHASS has been criticised for its handling of students who contracted the Covid-19 virus.
President of CHASS, Abubakar Yakubu denied allegations that students who tested positive for Covid-19 were sent home. Mr. Yakubu said each school was assigned to a health facility as part of laid down protocols in anticipation of positive cases.
He told GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey that the situation has been handled extremely well, resulting in more than 95 percent of the Covid cases among students having been treated and discharged.
Mr. Yakubu denied claims that eggs for students have been replaced with Chinese-made mackerel. He bemoaned the delay in disbursement of funds to the schools and appealed to the authorities to ensure funds are released early enough to facilitate the smooth running of the schools.
On the issue of Free SHS, Mr. Yakubu explained why CHASS cannot abandon such an initiative despite the implementation challenges.
