Chief of Nyinahin, Nana Amampene Boateng Twum, has promised to support students of the Nyinahin Catholic Senior High who are traumatised after fire razed down their dormitory.
More than 100 students of the Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region were reported to have been left stranded following a fire outbreak in the boys’ dormitory. The fire was suspected to have been caused by some final-year students.
First and 2nd-year students of Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School in the Ashanti Region completely lost their trunks, books, clothing, shoes, mattresses and beds and other personal effects to the ravaging fire that swept through the dormitory in the school.
There were no injuries as the students were attending mass when the incident happened.
A combined team of personnel from the Bibiani and Nyinahin Fire stations responded to the emergency but could not salvage anything due to the long distance they had to travel. Though the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
It is alleged that some Form 3 students of the school set the dormitory ablaze after completing the WASSCE in protest against strict invigilating.
After being informed about the incident, the Chief of Nyinahin, Nana Amampene Boateng Twum rushed to the school to witness at first hand the extent of damage caused by the fire.
He assured the traumatized students of his immediate support. The Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Emma Amoateng Mensah also promised the students of immediate assistance.
