The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), in collaboration with Cocoa Processing Company (CPC) has held a Chocolate Day Celebration on 14th February 2022 at the forecourt of GBC’s Uniiq FM in Accra. The event was to educate staff of GBC on the health benefits of chocolate and cocoa and also to enjoy chocolate as a made in Ghana product on Chocolate Day and throughout the year.
Professor Amin Alhassan, Director-General of GBC gave the welcome address at the event and Nana Dr. Agyenim Boateng, Managing Director of CPC, was the Guest Speaker.
In his address, Nana Dr. Agyenim Boateng, indicated that cocoa is equally important to the immune system as well as the skin.
He added that the cocoa liquor is good for cooking and for use as body cream.
There was a demonstration on how to use cocoa butter for cooking and making pomade.
As part of the activities marking the celebration, there was a competition where participants were asked questions relating to cocoa and the CPC. Winners were awarded with hampers from CPC, a night for a couple at Alyos Bay, Atimpoku and coupons from Cheezy Pizza.
Staff of the Corporation were served cocoa drinks for breakfast and given chocolates.
They were also treated to a sample of dishes made from cocoa products amid good music.
Products from CPC were sold to staff at discounted prices.
The ceremony also saw other dignitaries including the Deputy Director-General of GBC, Mr. Ismael Yamson, Director of Corporate Affairs Mamle Asare, Ag Director of TV, Mr. Ebenezer Ampaabeng, Director of Obonu Radio, Mrs Loretta Vanderpuye, Director of Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Mr. Ekow Rhule of the CPC.
