The Newly appointed Regional Minister of the Greater Accra Region, Titus Glover, has instructed squatters to vacate a plot of land at “Circle ECOMOG” following a fire outbreak which gutted dozens of wooden structures.

The Minister expressed worry about the situation, emphasising the need to protect human lives and public property.

Additionally, he said the Regional Coordinating Council will collaborate with the security services to ensure strict enforcement of the directive.

Mr Glover expressed concern about the living conditions of the affected residents, citing the sanitation situation and crime rates at the community.

He said the Government had no alternative settlement plan for the affected residents.

The Regional Chief Officer Grade 1, ACFO1 for the Ghana National Fire Service, Roberta Aggrey Ghanson, said investigations are underway to ascertain the real cause of the fire.

Some eyewitnesses blamed the outbreak on carelessness on the part of a resident, calling on the Government to find solutions to lessen their peril.
