Cocoa Carriers Association instructs members to go on strike over conditions of service

Leadership of the Cocoa Carriers Association has instructed its members at the Tema, Takoradi, and Kumasi depots of the Cocoa Marketing Company Limited to begin an indefinite sit-down strike starting today, October 7, 2024 over issues related to their conditions of service.

National Chairman of the Cocoa Carriers Association, Raymond Atanga Abobiga, has urged all members to participate fully in the upcoming indefinite strike, stating that workers will report to work but will be at the gate of the various warehouses until their demands have been met.

He added that the strike is a fight for a just cause and not against an individual.

In 2022, members of the Association undertook a similar strike, demanding wage increment and improved working conditions, led to thousands of bags of cocoa beans being left unattended at various Cocoa Marketing Company Limited warehouses.
