Processes to lift the ban on small scale mining are in their final stages as vetting of small scale mining licenses takes place today.
The ban, which was imposed early last year is expected to be lifted by the end of this year.
To set the process rolling, the Inter-Ministerial Committee on illegal Mining is scrutinising the licenses of all small scale miners in a bid to eliminate the illegal ones in the system.
Those who are approved by the Inter-Ministerial Committee will be given the go ahead to resume their operations.
