Corporate women urged to rise above obstacles to build career

Managing Director of the Agricultural Development Bank, ADB PLC, Alhaji Alhassan Tali has challenged women especially those within the Bank to strive to make a difference in all their endeavors at the workplace.

This will not only enhance productivity but reiterated the fact that women have the potential to impact the world in all spheres. Mr. Tali made the remark when he joined ADB Ladies to relaunch their Association.

As a Patron to the group, the Managing Director said for an institution that has females representing more than 46% of staff strength, it is imperative that they work diligently while looking for avenues that will help improve not only their welfare but the success of the Bank as well.

He said, “the world around us is changing rapidly, and the challenges you face as women today are vastly different from what your predecessors faced. Hence the relevance of the theme you selected for the relaunch: Building Peer Support Network For Professional Development cannot be over-emphasized. Notwithstanding, you are women of substance, resilience, and strength, and together, you can overcome any obstacle that comes your way.”

The Managing Director encouraged the executives to ensure that all ladies of ADB sign up to become members of the Association and participate in all activities.

For her part, President of the ADB Ladies Association, Bridgette Kaminta said the world is changing at an unprecedented pace, and women are playing more prominent roles than ever, especially in the corporate space. It is therefore imperative that women come together to work towards the change they desire, hence the relaunch of the Association.

“In keeping with the given expectations and ideals, the interim executives accepted the challenge to revive the association that has been dormant for over a decade,” she said.

Mrs. Kaminta added, “the motivation for the relaunch amongst others is to inculcate a sense of teamwork among all ladies in the bank, build relationships with other professionals both in our career fields and in other related fields. This will allow us to foster relationships with others that are mutually beneficial to our careers as Bankers, be a guiding force to drive ladies to actively contribute to the bank’s continued success, foster diversity and inclusion and support the welfare of ladies in the bank.”

Other sister Ladies Associations that graced the occasion include GCB Ladies, Bank of Ghana and the Ladies wing of Unicof.
