The Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has been detained at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) awaiting results of a COVID-19 test in Accra.
The Education Minister underwent various tests including COVID-19 after he felt unwell for a couple of days.
He tested negative for the virus and this informed his decision to travel to his constituency for his acclamation over the weekend.
A statement issued and signed by the Press Secretary to the Ministry, Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng, said following his return to Accra, the Minister still felt unwell and decided to check himself in for further tests including a second test for COVID-19.
Athough the test results are not out, the Minister has been detained at UGMC as a precautionary measure for further observation.
The Minister had tested negative in a previous test done on June 16, 2020.
