The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, CSIR, says building materials produced by the institute are of good quality and cheaper than those imported into the country. Materials such as bricks can withstand the country’s weather climate more than other concrete products.
However, construction workers prefer to use imported materials due to lack of knowledge. This assertion triggered the Chairman, James Avedzie to ask if staff of the institute use bricks produced by the CSIR for their projects and whether there is a law to that effect.
The Animal Research Institute of the CSIR also appeared before the Committee but their directors were unable to answer questions regarding land encroachments and unbalanced books.
Director of Food Research of the Institute, Charles Torto spoke about what has been going on to improve plant medicine.
He said ”Prekese is very effective for the control of high blood pressure”, and the public needs to know about it.
