The Ministry of Interior has imposed a nighttime curfew on Walewale and its surrounding areas in the North East Region, effective from Saturday, February 15, 2025.

The directive, issued by the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, in a statement, follows recommendations from the North East Regional Security Council.

The curfew is part of efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Under the new restrictions, residents must remain indoors from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Authorities have urged local chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and youth to remain calm and seek peaceful ways to address ongoing challenges in the area.

A total ban on carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons has also been enforced.

Security officials warn that anyone found in possession of such items will face arrest and prosecution.
