The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, has raised concerns about the behavior of some Electoral Commission (EC) officials in managing the 2024 general elections.
In an interview on TV3 on Saturday, December 28, Mr. Dafeamekpor expressed doubts about the impartiality of certain officials, stating that those who cannot perform their duties fairly should step down.
“I am questioning the conduct of some EC officials… they cannot apply the rules differently when it suits them,” he said. He added that officials who cannot do their job fairly should focus on personal or political ventures instead.
On the same program, Kwame Andy Appiah Kubi, Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North and a legal practitioner, commended the Supreme Court for overturning a High Court ruling related to the re-collation of results in some constituencies.
“The Supreme Court did a good job… the High Court ought to have allowed the NDC to make their case,” he remarked.
The Supreme Court has now directed the Accra High Court to reconsider the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s application regarding four disputed constituencies: Okaikwei Central, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, and Techiman South.
