Dagbon State donates GH¢50,000 to COVID-19 Trust Fund

The Dagbon State, led by Ya-Na Mahama Abukari (II), Overlord of the area, has presented GH¢50,000 to the COVID-19 Trust Fund to support the country’s efforts at fighting the virus.

Paramount Chief of Mion  Mion, Lana Mahamadu Abdulai (II), , on behalf of Ya-Na, presented the cheque covering the amount, to the COVID-19 Trust Fund through the Northern Regional Minister at the Gbewaa Palace at Yendi on Monday.

Ya-Na Abukari (II), in a statement read on his behalf by Zagbal-Na Dr Yakubu Abdulai, expressed grave concern about the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the fight against the disease required the support of citizens, hence the donation.

He called on the people of Dagbon to observe the precautionary measures against the disease and appealed to producers of personal protective equipment and other materials for the fight against the pandemic to work extra and produce more to meet the demands of the country.

He commended President Nana Akufo-Addo for his leadership prowess in ensuring that the country stayed safe during the pandemic.

 The  Northern Regional Minister, Mr Salifu Saeed,on behalf of the government, expressed appreciation to the Ya-Na for the gesture, and said it showed the seriousness of the Dagbon State to help fight the pandemic.

Some of the chiefs, who were present at the occasion included Zohe-Na Salifu Mahamud, Sunson Na-Shani Hamidu II, Zangbal-Na Dr. Yakubu Abdulai, Nakpali Bore Gariba Yankosor II, Chereponi Fame Na Nyame Kofi Malba, Saboba Ubor John Bowan, Guntingli Na Shahadu Kamaldeen, Tamalgu Yabidow representative of Kuga Na Adam Abdulai II.

Meanwhile, the Ya-Na Abukari (II) has also supported the Yendi Government Hospital with nose masks and veronica buckets to protect health workers and their clients.
