A group of Dagombas serving as Ambassadors and Consul-Generals have donated, One hundred thousand cedis to support the redevelopment of the Gbewaa Palace at Yendi.
The Consul-Generals from Ghana to Lagos, Hajia Samata Gifty Bukari, made the presentation on behalf of her colleagues to the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari at his private residence in Tamale.
The Dagbon Overlord after receiving the cash donation handed it over to the Committee overseeing the reconstruction.
He commended the group for the gesture and urged others to emulate the envoys.
The Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari also expressed his deep excitement about the level of enthusiasm from the sons and daughters of Dagbon towards the execution of the project.
According to him, the project will serve successive Overlords from both sides of the Royal families when completed.
The Consul General from Ghana to Lagos, Hajia Samata Gifty Bukari said the gesture is a little contribution of all the Ambassadors of Dagbon, High Commissioners, Consul Generals and Deputy High Commissioners to support the new Gbewaa palace project.
She said, the group will continue to support, initiatives that seek to promote growth and transformation of Dagbon, and enhance the socio-economic livelihood of the people, as well as to portray the rich culture and traditions of the ancient kingdom.
The Ambassadors who made the donation include, Ambassador to Mali Napoleon Abdulai, Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Habib Tijani, Ambassador to Namibia, Alhassan Yakubu, and Qatar’s Mohammed Nurudeen Ismaila.
The rest are Mohammed Habib Idris, Ambassador to Kuwait, Rita Tani Iddi, Ambassador to United Kingdom, Samata Gifty Bukari, Consul General of Ghana-Lagos and Ambassador to Jeddah, Abdulai Kamal-Deen.
