The Attorney General‘s Office has dropped the charges against seven persons arrested in connection with the Democracy Hub protest at the 37 roundabout last month.

State Attorney Amanda Awadi told an Accra Circuit Court that the state has taken a decision to discontinue the prosecution and discharge the seven persons, namely Kingsley Asiedu, Seth Cofie, Gloria Louis, Nii Quaye Hammond, Manuel Biney, Dorsese Joseph, and Ernest Acheampong.

She said a new charge sheet will be filed and substituted with the current on the next adjourned date.

Trial of two other accused persons, Dela Quarshie and Agbevi Matthias, will however proceed.

The State Attorney further informed the court that the second batch of disclosures has been filed and the state intends to file witness statements by the next adjourned date.

A Defence Lawyer, Prince Ganaku, informed the court that he is yet to be served copies of the field disclosures.

Case adjourned to November 21, 2024.
