The Digital Transformation Centre, DTC Ghana spearheaded by TECHFARM Hub in collaboration with the German Development Cooperation, GIZ has organized a day’s digital transformation engagement in Koforidua for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs owners in the Eastern Region.
The engagement forms part of the DTC Ghana’s quest to support Ghanaian businesses, especially women-led informal micro-enterprises, to strengthen their economic situation through digital transformation to boost the digital economy.
The approach aims to improve policy framework and foster collaboration for digital entrepreneurship, promote user-centered inclusive design and accessibility of digital services, and build digital entrepreneurship through coaching and mentoring.
The workshop is also designed to encourage active participation of stakeholders, allowing them to contribute their valuable experiences and ideas to ensure effective project management.
In an interview with GBC News, a lecturer at the School of Sustainable Development of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, UESD, Somanya, Dr. Felix Danso noted that it is imperative for people in industry and academia to collaborate to help bridge the disparity between academia and industry.
The Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Export and Promotion Authority, GEPA, David Apetsi noted that the engagement will offer his outfit the opportunity to brief the people about the activities of GEPA.
The President of Association of Ghana Start-ups, Solomon Adjei mentioned that engagements as such will offer players in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises sector to meet and share ideas on the way to move the sector forward.
The Akwadumhene, Nana Dr. Owusu Agyare stated that the traditional authorities will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to educate the youth on digital transformation to meet the needs of the digital economy.
He added that the traditional authorities will provide the enabling environment for SMEs to thrive which will in turn create jobs for the youth.
The engagement saw representatives from academia, trade and industry, Government Agencies, traditional leaders, MDAs, MSMEs owners, person with disabilities among others in the region attending.
