The new Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Prof. Amin Alhassan has outlined his vision for the restructuring of the State Broadcaster to make it a world-class Media Organisation.
Speaking on the Uniiq Breakfast Drive, Prof. Alhassan said at least within the first 100 days in office, his administration will be in a position to chart the way forward for the State Broadcaster.
He said under the current dispensation it is clear that certain areas of GBC are dysfunctional and need recalibration.
On the issue of TV Licence, Prof. Alhassan said, he is ready to answer any question on the matter. According to him, the discussion of TV license was misplaced because all Public Service Broadcasting subsists on TV licences.
The Director-General said he has plans for all staff of GBC to undergo re-orientation on Public Service Broadcasting. With a new orientation, staff would be positioned to lead public education on the vision and mission of the State Broadcaster.
He called on staff of the Corporation to show greater honesty and openness in their dealings.
This is to ensure that GBC succeeds and to help avoid any privatization of the state Broadcaster, which will lead to loss of jobs.
