Partnership between the media and Minority group Activists is key to demystifying the numerous negative stereotypes against minority groups. This was the focus of a three-day retreat at Dodowa near Accra.
The two groups agree, that there has not been enough collaboration in their efforts hence the hostilities.
The groups believe they are now better equipped to carry out their advocacy in their various communities for the needed publicity, in order to co-exist  peacefully.
At the 3-day forum, minority group activists with diverse background from across the country were joined by colleagues from Senegal and Sierra Leone via zoom.
They looked at topics such as who minority groups are, understanding the realities of minority communities and connections, roots and consequences of conflict and community tension, and causes of conflict.
The participants also gained insight into understanding ethical and privacy standards, activism and compassion fatigue, stress, psychology  among others.
The program with support from the European Union EU, was organized by the Media Platform for Environment and climate change MPEC.
Mary Ama Kodom Agyeman is the Executive Director.
