Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces, Major General Nicholas Peter Andoh, has disclosed to the Criminal Division of the Accra High Court that Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm masterminded the alleged Coup plot.
Testifying to the Court as the Second Prosecution Witness in the case of the Republic and Dr. Mac Palm and nine others, the witness said information gathered from BNI operatives and WhatsApp messages from the phones of the accused persons revealed that Dr. Mac-Palm was the brain behind the plot to oust the Government.
The former Director-General of Defence Intelligence of the GAF, also testified that Col. Kojo Gameli, one of the accused persons, confessed to their modus operandi when he was arrested.
He revealed how Dr. Mac-Palm made practical efforts to recruit personnel from the military and also manufactured weapons to carry out their actions. He told the Court that when the Improvised Explosive Devices-IED were taken for testing by the experts, their report proved that each of the IEDs could kill or cause damage to anybody within 200 meters of the point of impact.
He said Dr. Mac-Palm provided his hospital which was meant to treat humans to produce IEDs which could cause destruction. The accused persons are facing four charges of conspiracy to commit high treason, high treason and abetment but they have all pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case has been adjourned to tomorrow for further evidence in chief by the witness.
