Draft Non-Custodial Sentencing Bill to be laid in Parliament

Draft of the Non-Custodial Sentencing Bill will soon be laid before Parliament for approval.

The Bill when passed into law, will among other things ensure the promulgation of Alternative Sentencing which include probation, parole and community service.

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia made this known when he addressed the 27th Cadet Officers Graduation Ceremony in Accra.

He noted that the Bill will help decongest the prisons, while reducing the financial burden on the Prisons administration.

The Vice President also added that Cabinet has concluded the decision to roll all security services unto CAP 30.
