On Friday, October 18, 2024, the East Legon community came together to honour the memories of Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, two vibrant students of Cornerstone International Academy whose lives were tragically cut short in a car accident on October 12.
The vigil, held at the accident site, was a poignant testament to the community’s strength and solidarity. Families, friends, and classmates gathered, holding candles and flowers, to pay tribute to the two girls whose futures were cruelly interrupted. In the face of tragedy, East Legon stood united, offering comfort and support to the grieving families.
The ceremony was marked by heartfelt prayers, tributes, and moments of silent reflection, as attendees celebrated the lives of Justine and Maame. The incident served as a stark reminder of life’s fragility and the importance of community.
Bishop Salifu Amoako, the father of the 16-year-old driver involved, publicly apologized and sought forgiveness from the families, demonstrating accountability and compassion.
As East Legon mourns, it also stands resilient, embracing the families of Justine and Maame. The community’s response serves as a powerful reminder that, even in darkness, unity, love, and support can shine through.
