The Electricity Company of Ghana, Ashanti Region, has commenced an exercise to inspect all distribution transformers in the Ashanti Region.

The exercise, which commenced on March 24th, 2024, across all Twenty One Districts in the Ashanti Region, saw officials of the ECG visit various transformers to carry out inspections and also interact with customers to ensure the continuous provision of stable power.

The ECG officials visited transformers in communities like Bibiani, Obuasi, Ejisu and some places in Adum, including the Central Market, Bank of Ghana, Telecel Ghana, and Ashanti Regional Police Command, among others.

The team checked the integrity of transformers and also picked up the load readings recorded by each transformer.

The team, as part of their interactions with customers, educated them to report suspicious individuals they see closer to ECG installations like transformers and pylons to the nearest ECG Office or Police station.

Speaking to GBC News in Kumai, the Public Relations Officer for Ashanti Sub Transmission, Ing. Collins Manu, explained that the exercise will continue in all operational areas and therefore appealed to customers to cooperate with ECG officials to help complete this exercise.

Ing Manu also urged customers to desist from illegal connection and pay their bills promptly to enable the Company to get the needed revenue to sustain the electricity supply chain.
