ECOWAS Commission reviews protocols on good governance

The ECOWAS Commission is reviewing its protocols on good governance and democracy to tackle coups in the sub region.

Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey at a media briefing said this has become necessary following the upsurge in coup d’états in some West African Countries recently.

Meanwhile, the Government says it has a strong interest in the stability and security in the sub Region. To this end, President Akufo-Addo as Chairman of ECOWAS worked to contain the growing insecurity in the sub Region.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway said President Akufo-Addo has provided leadership through mediation processes to tackle crises in Guinea, Mali and Burkina Faso from escalating to other Member States.

Currently ECOWAS has undergone reforms for efficient organisation of the body.
