Edmond Kombat has been named the new Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Ghana’s leading oil refinery, during a crucial period for the company.
His appointment is seen as a key move to address the challenges TOR has faced in recent years.
With a strong background in the oil and energy sector, Edmond Kombat is expected to bring the expertise needed to help TOR overcome its operational and financial struggles.
TOR, once a vital part of Ghana’s industrial growth, has been unable to meet energy demands due to inefficiencies.
As Managing Director, Kombat’s main task will be to restructure and modernise the refinery’s operations. He is also expected to attract private-sector partnerships to secure funding and technical support for TOR’s revival.
Edmond Kombat is a lawyer, entrepreneur, and advocate for African development. He co-founded Bidzakin Kombat Law Firm and holds multiple academic qualifications, including a First Class degree from the University of Ghana, an LL.B. from GIMPA, and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University.
His career spans finance, energy, and business. He worked as a Financial Analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London and as an Energy Analyst at both TOR and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST). He also served as a Research Assistant at Harvard’s Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government.
Kombat is the Founder and Chairman of Edkom Group of Companies, which operates in agriculture, energy, real estate, and mining. He also co-founded the Institute for Energy Security (IES), where he focuses on energy research and financial sustainability.
With his broad experience and leadership skills, Edmond Kombat is poised to lead TOR toward a brighter future.
