The Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference has condemned brutalities meted out to unarmed citizens who were demonstrating in Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

The Bishops said in a statement signed by their President, Most Rev. Phillip Naameh, that the act is not only condemnable but criminal and must be investigated and the perpetrators punished.

The Bishops Conference expressed concern about what they called the lack of professionalism exhibited consistently by security personnel in managing crowd control, stressing that this does not augur well for the country.

The Ghana Catholic Bishops further appealed to agitated youth across the country, particularly in Ejura to exercise restraint while the issue is being investigated.

They urged all who want to exercise their fundamental human rights to demonstrate to do so within the limit of the laws of Ghana.
