The Ghana Police Service has restored peace in Ejura after a mob attacked the Ejura Police Station early Saturday, January 11, 2025.

The trouble started on Friday night, January 10, when police arrested a suspect for alleged theft.

Around 2:20 am on Saturday, the suspect, who was in custody, complained of feeling unwell and was taken to the Ejura Government Hospital. Sadly, he passed away while receiving treatment.

As hospital staff prepared to move the body for preservation and autopsy, angry residents attacked the police station, setting parts of it on fire. Some members of the mob also stormed the hospital and forcibly took the suspect’s body.

With the help of local opinion leaders, the Police worked to calm the situation and prevent further violence. The military later joined to strengthen security, and the Ghana National Fire Service extinguished the fire at the police station.

No casualties were reported, and investigations are ongoing to find those responsible for the attack. The Police assured the public of their commitment to ensuring peace and security in the community.
