The Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo, has challenged judges in the country to embrace technology for effective justice delivery.
She said, “the Judicial Service is gradually moving towards the full integration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in all aspects of its operations and, therefore, there is the need for judges to be abreast of modern trends in ICT.”
Justice Akuffo was speaking at the swearing-in of Circuit Court Judges and Magistrates in Accra.
She explained that it is important that Judges serve society more efficiently, and embrace with passion the tools of modernity, such as the Internet and computers by harnessing technology to speed up their work.
She told the appointed judges and magistrates to be very simple in the use of language, by giving reasons for judgements, so that litigants can understand the processes and conclusions in a case.
President of the Ghana Bar Association, Anthony Forson also advised the judges and magistrates to ensure that their work re-affirms the faith of people in the judiciary and the bar. Nineteen Circuit Court Judges and nine Magistrates were sworn into office.
