A growing concern about how individuals handle their emotions in their daily lives has been a worry in general interpersonal relationships, especially when it comes to working in corporate environments.
In an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show on November 8, 2023, the CEO of P & F Coaching International, Patrick Abah-Dakou, educated Ghanaians on how to be emotionally intelligent and the ability to understand and identify their emotions.
Mr. Abah-Dakou explained that emotional intelligence helps you live your life comfortably, adding that, it is your ability to understand your emotions and express them.
“The success of emotional intelligence is equal to IQ and AQ. The IQ and AQ make individuals understand that they can be intelligent, but when they are not trained on emotional intelligence, their IQ in emotional intelligence might be low. Measuring it on the scale of 1 to 10, they might be measured at 2/10,” he said.
The consultant also disclosed some behaviours that clarify that one is emotionally intelligent.
He further said what can make one emotionally intelligent is the ability to identify their self-awareness, the ability to appreciate people, and making ethical decisions as a leader. Others, he noted, are how you are open and honest about your mistakes, the ability to handle your emotions in difficult situations, and the ability to recognise people’s work and achievements.
