Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh has been accused by the Minority in Parliament of lack of control over his ministry, which has resulted in the delay of a load-shedding timetable.
Senior Presidential Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, stated that the responsibility for releasing a load-shedding timetable lies with the Energy Minister, given his oversight responsibility of the energy generation process.
However, during an interview with Citi News, Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, a member of the Mines and Energy Committee of Parliament, offered a different perspective, suggesting that the Energy Minister’s limited authority over the ministry is hindering his ability to take decisive action, including instructing the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to release the much-needed timetable.
This difference in opinion highlights the challenges faced by the Energy Minister in effectively managing the energy sector. It also raises questions about the extent of his control and authority within the ministry.
The delay in the release of the load-shedding timetable has caused frustration among the public, as they are left uncertain about power outages and unable to plan accordingly.
