Era of graduate unemployment will soon be a thing of the past – Government

Government says the era of graduate unemployment in the country will soon be a thing of the past.

This is because the various policy initiatives rolled out by government is creating the needed jobs for the youth. That’s according to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The Vice President said Ghana is on the path of growth and development which will be anchored on equipping the youth with the right skills.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the one year anniversary of the Nation Builders Corps, (NaBCo) in Accra, Vice President Dr. Bawumia gave the assurance that NaBCo trainees will be the first to be considered for permanent employment in the public sector when the need arises.

The Nation Builders Corps (NaBCo) is an initiative envisioned by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to find a solution to the horrid stories of unemployed graduates.

Government taking into cognizance the teaming unemployment youth in the country has over the last three years initiatives to create employment for the youth.

One of such initiatives is NaBCo which has seen over 100, 000 being engaged in various fields.

The one year celebration brought together some beneficiaries from far and near to mark the milestone.

Vice President Bawumia said the phenomenon where the youth stay home due to of lack of jobs is gradually fading.

He challenged beneficiaries of the program to take full advantage and equip themselves with the needed skills for the job market adding that government will give consideration to NaBCo trainees when there is vacancy for employment in the public sector.

Vice President Dr. Bawumia cataloguing some achievements of government since taking office indicated that Ghana according to the International Monetary Fund, (IMF) is the fastest growing economy.

He noted that all indicators point to the fact that government has performed better than its predecessors.

The first anniversary of NaBCo was on the theme:, “Investing in the youth, securing our future through opportunities for work and nation building”.
