Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) has appointed Farihan Alhassan as Managing Director. The appointment follows the resignation of Kofi Adomako.

The statement released on Monday, January 27, 2025, explained that the resignation of Mr. Adomako was based on a mutual and amicable agreement between the bank and himself, the immediate past Managing Director to part ways effective Tuesday, January 28.

At 44, Farihan Alhassan joins GCB as a highly accomplished financial specialist with two decades of experience in the banking industry.

With a wealth of experience, he previously led the Business and Commercial Banking Unit at Stanbic Bank Ghana, where he enhanced customer engagement and supported SMEs.

Mr Alhassan began his career at a remarkable young age. At 26 years old, he became the youngest regional manager at Barclays Bank (now Absa) and later served as Head of Retail and Distribution.

Known for his strategic vision and customer-focused leadership, he is expected to drive innovation, expand financial inclusion, and strengthen GCB Bank’s market position.

Mr. Alhassan’s appointment is a strategic move to boost the Bank’s leadership and reinforce its status as a dominant force in the Ghanaian bank sector.
