FDA destroys unwholesome goods in Upper East Region

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), in the Upper East Region has destroyed unwholesome goods valued at GH¢356, 848.00.
The goods which were confiscated by the Authority after a market surveillance throughout the region included food products, pharmaceutical drugs, cosmetics, herbal medicines, food supplements and household chemicals.
The Food and Drugs Authority during a routine market surveillance across the Upper East Region confiscated the unwholesome products from provision shops, chemical shops, pharmacies, ware houses, herbal clinics, cosmetics shops and the open market.
In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, the Upper East Regional Manager of the FDA, Sebastian Mawuli Hotor, said the essence of the exercise is to sensitise the people in the area as well as all Ghanaians to purchase wholesome goods from the right source.
The exercise was supervised by officials from the Environmental Protection Agency, the Environmental and Sanitation Agency, Ghana Standards Authority, Ghana Police Service, GRA-Customs Division, Pharmaceutical Council, Economic and Organised Crime Office, EOCO, and Ghana Health Service.
