The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), has reacted to media reports on the poor quality and safety of sources of water used for sachet water production in the country and the need for the FDA to be vigilant.

The Authority reminds the public of its responsibility to protect consumers, as mandated by the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851) with regards to packaged water (bottled and sachet).

In an interview with GBCNEWS, the Head of communication and Public Education, Rhoda Appiah said the FDA ensures safety through the licensing of the manufacturing premises and the registration of products.

The manufacturing facilities are regularly inspected using the Authority’s Guidelines.

She urged the public to look out for FDA embossment on all products before purchase.
