The Food and Drugs Authority, FDA, says it has dispatched a team to conduct an inspection of supermarkets and other markets to prevent the sale of expired products to unsuspecting consumers.

According to the FDA, the inspection has become necessary due to the activities of unscrupulous persons selling unwholesome products to Ghanaians at reduced prices during this festive period.

Head of Food, Industrial Support Services Department of the FDA, Kofi Essel, cautioned the public, especially consumers to be careful and rigorously look out for expiry date when purchasing canned and frozen foods at the markets and on shelves in Supermarkets.

He said one of the strategies of marketers is to reduce the prices of products to attract consumers thereby selling unwholesome expired products to unsuspecting consumers.
